Construction Progressing...
VCU currently holds the title of having the largest student
population of any university in Virginia. And in order to keep
up with the demands of the students, VCU is currently carrying
out construction and renovation projects that total over $400
million and spans across both campuses. VCU President Eugene
Trani hopes that the time, energy, and money spent on the
projects will help propel the school to meet the 2020 Vision of
Excellence to better serve the students and the community.

VCU Track Teams Fall Short of CAA Title
In the 2007 CAA
Track and Field Championship hosted by James Madison University,
the VCU men’s track team placed third with 163 points behind
first place UNC-Wilmington (215.5) and runner-up William and
Mary (183). The VCU women’s team finished last with 19 points.

What Happens if the Resource Center Closes?
If the Resource Center does close,
there is and has been an alternate center on campus with
a full time sexual assault coordinator, Tammy McKeown,
who specializes in many of the same services given at
the Resource Center. Assistant Director of the Office of
Health Promotions, Linda Hancock ensures that there will
continue to be a facility that provides confidential
assistance to students on sexual assault, dating
violence, and stalking.

French Films Bring Violence, Parody and a Massive
Following to Richmond
The
VCU French Film Festival has said “a toute a l’heure”,
or “see you soon” to Richmonders now that the festival is over,
but this doesn’t mean that people aren’t still talking about it.
March 30-April 1 went by almost too quick, but left many
filmgoers wanting more. Celebrating its fifteenth year at the
Byrd Theatre in Carytown, the festival has become a major
deal, gaining more and more enthusiasts from Richmond and
abroad, every year.

VCU students is
traveling to China this spring break, but
they won't be getting much time for relaxation. Some of these
students will be learning about
HIV/AIDS,
a growing epidemic in China, and comparing it to
the HIV/AIDS problems in Richmond.

VCU to sell
laptops under new computing initiative
VCU hopes to sell students laptop computers at a big discount
under a new technology initiative to be implemented next year. VCU’s Technology Services department plans to introduce the
Mobile Computing Initiative beginning in the Fall 2007 semester.
The project builds on the Student Computer Initiative (SCI),
said Jim Bostick, director of user services for Technology
Services.

New Building Brings A New Future for VCU
It’s hard to miss the construction that is
the cause for much of the traffic on Belvedere St. between Cary
and Main Streets, however this minor inconvenience will be out
of our minds when the $84 million dollar Engineering and
